Menopause The Renaissance of a Older Women

For many of our mothers who went through menopause many years ago it was almost like taboo to speak about. But let us just start out by saying today it is not your mother’s menopause! These The upside and Renassaince of menopausedays, life after 50 can be fulfilling and even more exciting than the decades that came before, but you may even find that this really is the best time of your life a Renaissance if you will! Can we say one more thing? Sex. That’s right. Menopause does not mean the end to your sex life.

We do not have to worry about birth control; we can take a vacation and extend it if want to; we can come home from a long day at the office and eat a quart of ice cream instead making a full meal for the family; we can take long drives and not fuss with complaints from the backseat. Sex can be exciting too as long as we can control the symptoms of menopause. Your doctor can help treat the downsides of sexual dysfunction with medications and hormonal replacement.

The Upside of Life Through the Renaissance of Menopause

Menopause is a second coming of age. Extraordinary physical changes (erratic fluctuations of estrogen production) may alarm the soul in ways not experienced in the previous three or four decades. We temporarily forget that we are passengers with this physical form and not entirely in control of it. Getting past the control issue and just going with the flow, should be your first step in handling menopause. Hot dreads, insomnia, foggy thinking, and mood s swings can create a perfect storm of recycled fear, melancholy, anger and so on.  The new freedoms of menopause can be exhilarating, and accompanied with new responsibilities can bring an adult richness to perimenopausal and post-menopausal life. The second coming of age, menopause, is the engine that drives women to maturity that some may call the Upside of life or the Renaissance. Not surprisingly, most Upside women remember menopause as a positive process with many rich new adventures and feelings. There is little disputing those changes that come with menopause are a challenge but, the sky must get dark in order to see the bright stars. Menopause can be as beautiful as the stars, but we must endure the darkness in order to enjoy the upside of life.
